Blue Mountains Spring Holiday Bushcraft Adventure Program
Description
Come spend a spring day outdoors learning, making, playing and sharing skills together.
A family adventure
This is a family event, rather than a drop-off holiday program. Parents and carers stay and share the day with their children and remain responsible for their supervision.
The activities are especially suited to children around 6–13 years, but younger children and older siblings are very welcome. Some activities involve fire, carving tools and other practical skills, so children will participate according to their age, readiness and the supervision of their parent or carer.
We’ll begin each morning together around the fire, then move into a changing collection of hands-on activities throughout the day.
Depending on the day, these may include:
☘ Fire skills & fire starting
☘ Wood carving & simple bushcraft
☘ Clay and earth-based making
☘ Weaving, cordage & natural materials
☘ Animal tracking & learning to read signs in the landscape
☘ Plant, place & seasonal awareness
☘ Shelter building with natural materials
☘ Bush games, cooperative games & outdoor play
☘ Making, tinkering and practical survival skills
☘ A story shared together each day with harp music
There’ll be plenty of room for curiosity, conversation, experimenting and simply being outdoors together. You don’t need to already know anything about bushcraft or survival skills — come as you are.
We are equipped to go ahead in wet or hot weather - just bring suitable clothing!
