Description

Young Maidens

A Maiden & Caregiver Workshop

There comes a time when childhood begins to loosen its grip.

A girl's body begins to change. Questions emerge. New feelings arrive. And slowly, she begins to stand at the threshold of becoming.

For many of us, this transition was met quietly.

Perhaps with a conversation that felt awkward.
Perhaps with little explanation at all.
Perhaps with information, but without space to truly make sense of what was happening.

Young Maidens is an invitation to do things a little differently.

This is a gathering for girls aged 11–15 and the mothers, or trusted caregivers walking alongside them.

Together, we will create space to pause at this threshold.

To learn.
To ask.
To laugh.
To wonder.
And to begin building a relationship with the changing female body that is rooted in curiosity rather than shame.

Through shared conversation, creative exploration and age-appropriate body literacy, girls will be supported to understand the changes unfolding within them. Not as something embarrassing or inconvenient, but as part of the natural unfolding of who they are becoming.

And beside them, their caregivers will be invited to reflect on their own stories.

Because the way we speak about our bodies matters.

The way we respond to a girl's first questions matters.

And sometimes, in supporting the next generation to meet this threshold differently, we are given an opportunity to soften and tend to something within ourselves too.

Young Maidens is not simply a workshop about periods.

It is a shared experience.

A place for knowledge to be passed between generations.

A place for girls to feel safe asking what they have never known how to ask.

A place for caregivers to become more confident walking beside them.

And a gentle beginning to the lifelong relationship a young woman will have with her body.

A Note on Becoming

We cannot remove every uncertainty from a young girl's journey.

We cannot prepare her for every question she will one day have.

But we can help create the foundations for something different.

A girl who knows she can ask.

A girl who knows her body is worthy of understanding.

A girl who knows change does not mean something is wrong.

And a girl who knows there are women beside her as she finds her own way.

Because becoming is not something that happens in a single day.

It is a journey.

And sometimes, all a young maiden needs is to know she does not have to walk it alone.

What we'll explore

What We’ll Explore

Our time together is thoughtfully woven to balance learning, creativity, movement, rest and meaningful connection.

Together, Maidens and their caregivers will be invited to explore:

  • The wisdom of the changing seasons and how nature can be our teacher.

  • The phases of the Moon and the cycles we witness in the world around us.

  • The menstrual cycle as a healthy, natural and powerful rhythm of the female body.

  • Body literacy, puberty and the physical and emotional changes of becoming.

  • Learning to recognise body signals and develop a trusting relationship with the changing body.

  • Practical preparation for menstruation, including what to expect and how to care for yourself.

  • Consent, boundaries, body autonomy and finding your voice.

  • Creativity, storytelling, gentle movement and nature-inspired activities.

  • Circle and simple ceremonial practices that nurture confidence, belonging and authentic self-expression.

  • Meaningful opportunities for Maidens and their caregivers to connect, listen and share.

Rather than simply learning about cycles, our intention is for each Maiden to begin experiencing herself as part of the greater rhythms of life. discovering that just as the Earth has seasons and the Moon has phases, she too carries an innate wisdom within her.

And for the women walking beside her, it is an opportunity to pause, reflect on their own journey into womanhood, and consider how they might lovingly support the Maiden now standing before them.

This is not about having all the answers.
It is about creating a space where questions are welcome, bodies are honoured, and becoming can be met with curiosity rather than shame.

Activities will vary with each gathering, allowing Maidens to return throughout the year and continue deepening their understanding of themselves, their bodies and the natural world.

Investment includes one Maiden & one parent/caregiver.
Numbers are intentionally limited to create an intimate, supportive experience.
