Spring Music Series: An evening with Aaron Hopper
Event description
An evening with acclaimed finger-style guitarist, sonic innovator and composer Aaron Hopper.
Aaron arrives in back in Tasmania following a European tour of Big hART’s Industrial Symphony, “ZINC” composed by Aaron and Paul Corfiatis, and a tour of Germany where he performed his Guitar works. Aaron's finely crafted music uses sounds recorded in a Japanese paper making factory and Zinc factory in Hobart, Tasmania. Aaron is known for his fluid finger-style guitar pieces.
Aaron is a masterful and creative guitarist and and has been described as approaching the fretboard as though it were a keyboard, often creating the impression of more than one player. His technique is capable of summoning up an almost orchestral palette of colour.
“George Harrison’s phrase ‘while my guitar gently weeps’ makes perfect sense... for Hopper is a master guitarist both in interpretation and composition.” Andrew MacLean, Time Out.
“Zinc is a fabulous tribute to things that humans can make.”
