Build your own capacities and help grow resilience for our Bitterroot Valley- Eat Like a Local, Learn from a Farmer!
Please join us Saturday April 26 between 1PM and 6:30PM for a Knowledge-Sharing Jamboree!
We've lined up an amazing group of long-time local agriculture and food stewards to share their knowledge and skills. Each local expert will share for 30 minutes with 15 more minutes for Q&A. *Two Concurrent talks every hour with Montana-inspired healthy snacks crafted by our Youth Farm Interns. Topics and experts include:
***A Look into Composting-- with Farmer Leon Stangl of Yourganic Farm
***Intro to raising Small Animals-- with Farmer Henry Wuensche of Homestead Organics Farm
***Citizen Seed Savers-- an invitation to learn about and save seed with Farmer Laura Garber of Cultivating Connections/Homestead Organics Farm
***Beginning Organic Gardening in Western Montana-- with John Schneeberger of Garden City Nursery and former co-owner of Garden City Seeds
*** Tree and Shrub Propagation-- with Farmer/Crafter Karen Coombs of Garden City Nursery
***Growing Great Potatoes-- with Farmer Nancy Beech of Mountain Spring Farm
***Biodynamic Agriculture in the Bitterroot-- with Steve Elliott of Lifeline Produce, the longest operating biodynamic and organic farm in Western Montana
***Spring Eats! -- with Denise Lines, Cultivating Connections Kitchen Director, and the Youth Farm interns.
***Growing even more food: Crop planning, succession, quantities, & timing-- with Farmer Laura Garber
***Growing Herbs-- with Farmer Karen Coombs of Garden City Nursery
*Starting your Market Garden-- with Emerging Farmer John Labosco
*What is Permaculture?
* Raising chickens in your Backyard
Rain or Shine. Please bring your jacket, sun hat, a notebook, and a pen.
Come for an hour or stay the whole day-
Locally-inspired Grazing Table will be open all day!
Come with your questions, be ready to learn, and leave inspired into action-
Families are welcome. Crafts area and snacks for Kids of all ages. Parents are responsible for their children at all times.
