    CHARITY PERFORMANCE

We have been gifted a charity performance from the 'Merry Mellows' group, and the Matinee performance will be on Saturday 26th October. The venue is The Dungeon, under the Uniting Church, Cnr Brunker and Glebe Roads, Adamstown.

This year's play is called 'The Wildflowering of Chastity' and is a melodrama set in the mid-west USA in the 1800's. It is hilarious! There are many songs featured throughout the play and the audience is encouraged to sing along too if they wish! There are limited tickets at $25pp (including a soft drink, water or a glass of wine on arrival), and there will be snacks and drinks on sale at the venue also. Doors will open at 1:30pm for a 2:00pm start.

Brace yourselves and hang onto your seats for the Merry Mellows’ 2024 performance of the hilarious melodrama, “The Wildflowering of Chastity" or "Chaste Across the Stage”.  The Merry Mellows is an all-female drama group, formed almost 20 years ago.  This group comprises those who wish to ‘act up’ and a choir, integral to each performance.

In this stylish satirical melodrama, set in the mountains of a southern state of the USA around the 1880s, Aunt Absinthe hopes pretty Chastity has sold enough Easter eggs to meet the mortgage payment. Alas, it isn't Easter and the dyed-egg business is very slow. The evil Australian villain, Desmond, is set on acquiring their humble homestead at any cost. As he confesses to the audience, "'T'was my recent discovery of gold, silver, nickel, lead, plutonium, oil and buried treasure beneath—chuckle—this very room!" Terence Truelung, our muscle-bound hero, and Chastity’s fiancé, breathing heavily, is soon to the rescue, but Terence is also attracted to another girl. Seeing this, poor Chastity cries, "O gruesome spectacle! O pageant of horror!" Despite this and other indignities that can upset a girl—such as being tied to railroad tracks—it all turns out happily in the end.

Come along and support Survivor's R Us, and the wonderful Merry Mellows group!
