St James’ Lunchtime Concerts: NSW Police Band Dixieland Ragtime Combo and Wind Quintet
Event description
Join us for a very special Lunchtime Concert in historic St James King Street Sydney, featuring one of Australia’s most distinguished musical ensembles: the NSW Police Band. Formed in 1895, this permanent, full-time unit of thirty-three high-calibre professional musicians is celebrating 130 years of dedicated service in 2025. Known as "The State Band of NSW," they are celebrated for forging strong links between the Police and the community through music. Today's program highlights the versatility of this incredible band, featuring their lively Dixieland Ragtime Combo. Plus, enjoy the playful energy of their Wind Quintet performing Malcolm Arnold’s charming Three Shanties for Wind Quintet alongside a work by the masterful French composer Maurice Ravel. A superb lunchtime concert mid-week in downtown Sydney.
