ANNIE MA  

A graduate of Sydney Conservatorium, Annie has already travelled the world in pursuit of her art, performing in major Concert Halls of New York, Europe and Australia.

Annie has recently completed her Bachelor of Music Performance with First Class Honours at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, under the guidance of Natalia Ricci.

She was the winner of the 2020 SCM Piano Concerto Competition, 2020 Sutherland Shire Symphony Conductor’s Award, the first prizewinner in the 2019 Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition, winner of the 2018 Theme and Variations Piano Foundation Award and 2016 Sutherland and St George Youth Music Awards. She has also been awarded the University of Sydney’s Mary Charlton Prize and Winifred Margaret Neirous Award. Over the years, Annie has been a consistent recipient of various other music scholarships including the Sydney Scholars Award, Clarence Addison Turill Scholarship and PJV & MAH Cromack Memorial Scholarship.

Annie has appeared as a soloist in notable venues such as Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall and has given performances abroad in New Zealand and Germany. She has been invited to perform recitals as part of the Tiromoana Summer Concert Series, Bundanoon Music at Ten Series and playing frequently for the Sutherland Music Club. Recent highlights include a performance of Chopin’s Piano Concerto No 2 with the SCM Symphony Orchestra and the opportunity to work with Jena Philharmonic.  

She has been a past participant at the Mozarteum Salzburg Summer Academy and the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar Masterclasses and has worked with renowned pianists and teachers such as Dominique Merlet, Grigory Gruzman, Boris Berman, Alessio Bax, amongst many others.
