Event description

STA & Respite in the NDIS: Supporting you to take a break

This is a free workshop on the rules for NDIS Short Term Accommodation and respite funding. We discuss the rules about how you might use your funding when you or your family member need a short break and when you go on a holiday. We will hear from senior NDIA staff, Branch Manager of NDIA Policy Jessica Walker and Branch Manager of Service Guidance and Practice, Clair Wheeler.

At this workshop we will:

  • Explain the current rules on how you can spend your core funding on short term accommodation and respite.  We will also discuss what you can spend your funding on when you go on holiday.
  • Provide feedback to the NDIA about how we describe short breaks and STA as a way to support families and carers to maintain our relationships.
  • Have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss some of our experiences about self managing, buying respite, short term accommodation and using our supports when we're on holiday. This will help to inform NDIA policy.

The event is for the purposes of peer support and capacity building, it is not professional advice. The event will be recorded and made available on our website with captions at a later date.

This event is free but to support our work please subscribe to selfmanagerhub.org.au - a website full of helpful resources for self-managing. You can claim your subscription back on your NDIS plan out of your core budget (it says so on page 14 of the new Self Management Guide).
