Stand up against seismic blasting: St Kilda lunchtime event

Calling ocean lovers in Naarm/Melbourne - join us to stand up against seismic blasting in St Kilda on 7 November!

The Australian Marine Conservation Society will be joined by communities from all over Melbourne for a lunch time stand against seismic blasting.

We’ll have a live brass ensemble performance of ‘Seismic Shift’ by acclaimed Melbourne-based composer, Caerwen Martin, and of course - Bailee the Whale will be joining us for the action.

This one’s a lunchtime event, meeting on the beach side of Peanut Farm Reserve oval in St Kilda. Be sure to bring your signs against seismic blasting, dress up as your favourite sea creature, wear your jellyfish earrings, and head down to make your stand against seismic blasting!

Why are we holding this event?

In the past few weeks the largest seismic blasting proposal on record was cancelled by TGS after relentless community opposition.

This was a huge win for the campaign against seismic blasting, but we can’t slow down now. Off the back of this win, we need to push for lasting regulatory change to shut the door on seismic blasting proposals in our oceans.

We’re campaigning to abolish reckless seismic blasting Special Prospecting Authority (SPA) permits. These cheap cowboy permits allow the worst seismic projects to go ahead, deafening whales and pulverising krill.

We need to show our politicians the community strongly supports getting rid of seismic blasting SPA permits - so get down and show your support for the cause!
