Would you know how to support someone experiencing a mental health problem or crisis?

The Standard Mental Health First Aid course gives you the practical skills, knowledge and confidence to recognise when someone may be struggling, start a conversation and provide initial support.

Delivered over two days, this evidence-based course will help you learn how to:

recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems
approach someone and start a supportive conversation
use an evidence-based action plan to provide Mental Health First Aid
respond appropriately in a range of crisis situations
understand the professional and other supports available
reduce stigma and support people experiencing mental health problems.

Just like physical first aid, Mental Health First Aid is about knowing what to do until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.

No previous mental health experience or qualifications are required. This course is suitable for anyone who wants to feel better prepared to support a colleague, friend, family member or member of their community.

Participants who complete the course will be eligible to complete an assessment to become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider®.
