Event description

Mental Health First Aid gives you the skills and confidence to support someone experiencing mental illness. This accredited two-day course is designed for adults (18+) and is ideal for anyone who wants to make a difference.

Course outcomes
  • Recognise the signs and symptoms early of mental health problems so you can intervene early
  • Have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to have open and supportive conversations about mental health to effectively offer support
  • Know how to respond in a crisis across a range of situations 
  • Reduce the stigma and increase support for adults living with and experiencing mental health problems

MHFA covers the symptoms and recommended interventions for mental health conditions such as:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Psychosis
  • Substance use
What you will learn

How to assist individuals in crisis who may be experiencing:

  • Panic attacks
  • Non-suicidal self-injury
  • Aggressive behaviours
  • Psychotic states
  • Severe effects of drug or alcohol use
  • Traumatic events
  • Suicidal thoughts and behaviours

Accreditation is valid for three years for participants who complete the course and successfully pass the exam.
