About This Course
This is your registration of interest for the Standard Mental Health First Aid course, for adults supporting other adults. The course is authored by Mental Health First Aid Australia, fully funded by Support Act, delivered by EventCare, and recognised by Suicide Prevention Australia as a safe, high-quality and effective suicide prevention program.

Time Commitment
Mental Health First Aid training requires a significant time investment:
Standard course: 12 hours
Refresher training: 5 hours
The standard course involves 3 required components.
Component 1: Self-paced eLearning (5-7 hours) Complete 5 online modules before attending the workshops. This must be finished prior to component 2.
Component 2: Online Workshops (Two × 2.5-hour sessions, delivered on one day) Attend live Zoom sessions with a licensed instructor to consolidate knowledge and practice skills through group scenarios. Sessions have a 1-hour break between them.
Component 3: Assessment & Accreditation (15 minutes) Complete a short online quiz after component 2 to receive your 3-year accreditation as a Mental Health First Aider.
Important Course Requirements
Before Booking:
Use your personal email and mobile number (not work/shared accounts). This creates your Mental Health First Aid Australia profile. If you lose access to this email later, you'll lose access to your account.
Ensure you have a computer or laptop with a working webcam for Zoom sessions.
During the Course:
Complete eLearning first: Zoom links are only sent after you finish Component 1.
Video must stay on: Training compliance requires your video to remain on throughout all sessions - no moving locations or changing backgrounds.
Join from a private, quiet space: You'll participate in discussions, so find a stationary location without distractions.
Use stable device setup: If using a mobile device, keep it in landscape orientation on a stable surface. Do not move around during sessions.

Each course has limited capacity. Registering your interest does not guarantee your preferred course date - we'll do our best to accommodate you.
This course normally costs $300+. Support Act provides it fully funded for workers in the Australian music and creative industries. If you can no longer attend, please notify us immediately so we can offer your spot to someone on the waiting list. Support Act is charged for late cancellations.

After booking, you'll receive instructions to access your Mental Health First Aid dashboard and eLearning modules.
About the Course
The Standard MHFA course teaches adults (18+) how to provide initial support to people developing mental illness or experiencing mental health crises. You'll learn:
Signs and symptoms of common mental health conditions
Where and how to access professional help
Evidence-based support strategies
How to provide first aid in mental health emergencies
Upon completion and passing the assessment, you'll receive a digital Certificate of Accreditation valid for 3 years.
Note: The instructor may postpone the course if minimum participant numbers aren't met.
