Starfish Club Barney McAll Trio 7 April 2025

Barney McAll is an ARIA-winning, Grammy-nominated pianist and composer, and he's coming to Sydney for one night only to  play at The Starfish Club.

Barney is a leading creative light on the jazz scene in Australia today. 

Pianist, composer, producer, and teacher, he lived in New York for 15 years playing and collaborating with such luminaries as Gary Bartz, Dewey Redman, Jimmy Cobb, Billy Harper, Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley and the Groove Collective. He was also Musical Director for pop sensation Sia.

Notably Barney McCall has won an Aria, two music Victoria awards, 6 bell Awards, and an AIR award,and been nominated for the Australian Music Prize twice and a Grammy award! 

With over 100 album credits and 28 solo releases to his name, Barney McAll has established himself as one of the most exciting voices in contemporary jazz.  Recently, Barney’s artistry was showcased in an NPR Tiny Desk Concert alongside Gary Bartz, further cementing his reputation as an original and distinctive voice, not just here but world wide. 

For this performance, Barney will be joined by dear friends, long-time collaborators, and musical kindred spirits who share a deep  organic chemistry - bassist Jonathan Zwartz and drummer Hamish Stuart.

A trio of enormous creativity and synergy, they have been making music together for decades, whether it's with Vince Jones, Kate Ceberano and Rene Geyer, or their own notable projects - a deep-rooted connection and shared history is evident in every note they play.
