Starfish Club Sean Van Doornum 7 July 2025

For our July 7 Starfish performance we are delighted to present the wonderful singer, composer and guitarist, in the form of Seán Van Doornum.

Seán is also a producer and multi-instrumentalist whose work floats between baroque-pop, experimental-rock, alternate country, and mysterious and evocative sea shanties. His compositional style fuses classic songwriting with avant-garde sound design.

Trained at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Film Scoring Academy of Europe, Seán has composed for film, theatre, and the concert stage. 

After living and working for over a decade in New York - scoring for screen and stage, performing live and managing his studio, he recently relocated with his family back to Australia. 

His work has featured at the SOHO International Film Festival and the Hollywood Fringe, and he has been honoured with the Allan Zavod Composition Award, the Conrad Pope Scholarship and an Australia Council ArtStart Grant for his most recent release with virtuoso award-winning guitarist, Ben Hauptmann who will be joining Sean for this concert along with the immensely talented Oliver Thorpe on pedal steel and guitar, Harry Sutherland on keys and of course the Starfish Rhythm section of Jonathan Zwartz and Hamish Stuart.

This will be a night of beautiful, cinematic music.
