Stargazing at Paddock Creek Reserve
Event description
Friends of Paddock Creek plans to hold up to 6 stargazing events in conjunction with Darren Bellingham during the second half of 2024 in addition to one on Saturday 15 June. Darren is resident of Gordon and an experienced stargazer who led our events in 2023. The telescopes will be set up on flat ground near the rotunda on Lyndhurst Street. Attendance at each of these events will be limited to 20 people to maximise viewing experience and familiarisation with use of a telescope. The stargazing events will also incorporate discussion about the use that First Nations people made of myths and science in astronomy. The events will also have an educational impact by building knowledge and understanding on the night sky; the science of astronomy and practical use of telescopes. The area where the stargazing will be held is flat an open ground and is well connected to the adjacent street side parking along Lyndhurst Street.
