Start Strong in Number with this positive, playful, and practical professional learning opportunity. 


Designed for Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 teachers this self-paced teacher content and toolkit explores strategies and resources for meeting all learners where they are and begin the rewarding journey of helping them extend their mathematical knowledge and skills

Do all this in ways that foster student confidence by uncovering how maths concepts and skills can be learned and enjoyed for their own sake.

Normally $80, but currently using a Pay What You Can model until 28 May 2025

The Workshop & Toolkit:

Access a series of videos and resources on-demand and make use this comprehensive teacher toolkit to help students start strong in number.

Video modules include snippets from an online session which ran on Wed 22 Jan 2025 as well as short video examples of teaching and learning in the classroom. 

Topics cover:

  • Which number concepts and skills are most important to focus on from the start through strategic, repeated exposures and practice
  • Formative assessment strategies to learn what students already know and can do in number
  • Playful class routines that integrate explicit teaching, collaborative learning and differentiation to foster key number sense ideas and skills 
  • Culture-building activities to shape an environment supporting not just numeracy and mathematical development, but as independent and cooperative learners
AITSL standards covered:

1.2, 1.5, 2.1, 2.5, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 4.1, 4.2, 5.1, 6.2, 6.4, 7.4. Professional learning certificates can be issued on request.
