Event description

Start the school year with confidence in this positive, playful, and practical session designed for Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 teachers.

Explore and consider strategies for meeting all learners where they are and begin the rewarding journey of helping them extend their mathematical knowledge and skills. Do this while fostering student confidence and helping them see that maths concepts and skills can be learned and enjoyed for their own sake.

In just two hours (including a 10 minute break), we'll explore:

    • Formative assessment activities and strategies to learn what students already know and can do in number
    • Playful maths routines that integrate explicit teaching, collaborative learning and differentiation to foster key number sense ideas and skills
    • How these activities and routines ensure critical foundations (such as Trusting the Count and Early Place Value) ) and how they align to the the Number Algebra V9 curriculum and V3 Numeracy Progressions
