Event description

Each year, Steeple Church holds a camp for our congregation members and others connected to our church to build community, relationship with one another, and to grow in our faith together. This year we'll be focusing our sessions on action formation; what Jesus' love looks like in practice.

Steeple Church Camp will run from 11th-13th April and will feature three key sessions across Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th. We have included a few different pricing options to accomodate for people in all types of financial situations. It is free for children under 18 to attend.

The Power and Practice of Gospel Nonviolence

Richard Rohr has said, "It's amazing that we should need to tell Christians that Jesus taught and surely lived a nonviolent life. And almost as amazing –and wonderful- that Jarrod McKenna should be able to teach it so well in our time and culture.” Over Steeple’s weekend away we will explore the practice, spirituality and strategies for transforming violence in ourselves and our world with the dignity restoring, creative and empowering nonviolent way of Jesus our Lord.

This will be an interactive communal training experience facilitated by our own Pastor, Jarrod McKenna. Jarrod is the former World Vision Middle East/Eastern Europe’s Nonviolent Movement Coordinator, has trained activists for over 20 years on 5 continents in over 20 countries for groups like Greenpeace, Rising Tide, Extinction Rebellion and spearheaded the Love Makes A Way movement that the Einstein Institute called the largest faith based civil disobedience movement in Australia’s history. Martin Luther King Jr’s co-worker and nonviolent strategist Rev Jim Lawson has described our own pastor as, “an expert in nonviolent social change” and we couldn’t be more excited to provide this opportunity for your friends and family to deepen in the transformative, nonviolent way of Jesus.
