STELA (Student Environment Leadership and Action) online forum
Event description
Looking for a safe space for your students to come together to discuss sustainability with students from all over Victoria?
ResourceSmart Schools has created a space to do just that and your school is invited!
Purpose:
ResourceSmart Schools(RSS) is committed to giving students a voice in the future of sustainability education in Victoria so RSS providers from Sustainability Victoria, Eastern Alliance for Sustainable Learning(EASL), Environment Education Victoria(EEV) and the CERES School of Nature and Climate have designed this online forum to bring students together with their teachers to discuss sustainability.
Presenters:
This is an online event delivered live from Parkmore Primary School and the students there will lead a discussion on their impressive actions to tackle soft plastic waste in their school. During an inquiry session on pollution, the students at Parkmore Primary School discovered the issue of soft plastic and they decided to do something about it. Come along to hear about their journey from starting a simple audit of school lunchboxes all the way to collaborating with the researchers from the University of Sydney. These students have set their sights on promoting 'Wrapper Free August' to encourage all schools to reduce soft plastic use and then implement Wrapper Free Wednesday every Wednesday.
Outcomes:
- To give students a space to share their wins and challenges in sustainability
- To support schools to connect and get inspired together
- To inform the ResourceSmart Schools program through active listening to students
This event is for ResourceSmart primary and secondary schools. If you are not an active ResourceSmart school and are interested in this workshop, please email RegionalRSS@sustainability.vic.gov.au.
