As Stella Anning and Michael J Brady embark on their interstate tour, they will explore what’s left to be said while living the dual life of songwriter and jazz guitarist.Both known for their work as jazz guitarists, Michael (Sydney) and Stella (Melbourne) bonded over their mutual love of jazz and songwriting on the other side of the world—in Canada—last year. Since then, both have ventured deeper into the world of songwriting and are excited to share a body of work that brings together their improvisational roots with stories told through melody, lyric, and harmony.

STELLA ANNING
Known for her guitar work in previous project, Stella Anning Trio or STAT, Stella Anning is a dynamic guitarist, singer/songwriter, composer, and performer from whose work bridges the worlds of jazz, soul, and indie music. With a foundation in jazz and composition, Stella has recently embraced the singer/songwriter aesthetic, exploring deeply personal themes like motherhood, mental health, and identity. Her upcoming release showcases a four-piece ensemble that reflects Naarm/Melbourne’s vibrant artistic diversity. Recent career highlights include Banff Jazz and Sonic Arts residency (2024) where she was mentored by Shabaka Hutchings and Ganavya, Mentorship with Aaron Choulai through the Australian Art Orchestra (2023), performing at Clarence Jazz Festival (2025), guest artist at Sydney’s Sound Sorcery jam (2024), National Folk Festival (2025) and STAT performing for Melbourne International Jazz Festival (2023).
MICHAEL J BRADY
Michael J Brady is a musical chameleon based in Gadigal Land, Sydney. His core creative project The Michael J Brady Trio (NSW) weave melodies between the guitar, double bass, and drum set - drawing influence widely from contemporary jazz, acoustic guitar, and chamber music. The trio has developed a reputation for dynamically charged performances born out of infectious ensemble interaction that explores the range of textures possible in the trio setting. Since 2023, the group has extensively toured Eastern Australia, and travelled to Banff Canada, and Siena Italy. They have shared the stage with the likes of Sandy Evans (SYD), Sasha Gavlek (TAS), Flora Carbo (VIC), and Stella Anning (VIC). Following their debut release in 2023, Brady is gearing to release his follow up trio record in late 2025.Supported by Beechworth emerging artist Maya Humphreys!Doors 6pm, show 6.30pm
