STEM Starters: The Electricity Within Us

STEM Starters at Columbia University hosts a free workshop of experiment stations for local kids and their families in West Harlem. 

At The Electricity Within Us, everyone is a neuroscientist exploring the world of brains and neurons! Learn about the how we sense the world around us, explore neurons under the microscope, have fun with fluorescent microscopic worms (used around the world for important neuroscience research), and even investigate real brains from reptiles, salamanders and mice! 

Content is geared toward a middle-school level science background, but all ages are welcome! Registration is free. Parents/Guardians are required to stay for the event. Please only register for 1 ticket per child, parents/guardians do not need a ticket. Attendees will rotate at their own paces between activity stations and talk with graduate student scientists as they learn.
