Topic: The “Notice of Claim” in Family Provision Proceedings in NSW
In this presentation Angela Djukanovic will discuss the importance of the “Notice of Claim ” in Family Provision claims in NSW and delve into its origins and evolution. Angela will discuss the risks and consequences associated with failing to appropriately serve a notice of claim. The presentation will include a review of notable judgments by The Honourable Justice Meek, in which his Honour provided practical guidance and best practice for practitioners of the Notice of Claim in Family Provision Proceedings.

SPEAKER | Angela Djukanovic, Barrister, Chalfont Chambers
Angela Djukanovic was called to the Bar in 2019 and is a member of Chalfont Chambers. She appears regularly in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and has an established practice in Wills and Estates, including contested probate, family provision and general equity claims.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Angela held senior executive roles in the corporate and commercial space including Managing Director of an executive recruitment company, and General Manager of a multinational consumer goods company. Angela was responsible for significant commercial transactions and negotiations which contributes to her ability to lead clients and solicitors through the process of mediation resulting frequently in successful outcomes, minimising protracted litigation.
In 2024 Angela was recognised in Doyles Guide as recommended Junior Counsel in Wills & Estates Litigation in NSW.
