Stone & Chalk Presents: Cyber Series #2 - Lines of Defence
Event description
What do you know about fraud? Who perpetrates it? What motivates them? Why are your health records worth more on the dark web than your credit card details? How are attackers targeting the banks? Why do the banks assume all of their customers’ machines are compromised? How and why many cyber defences are failing today. And why government and commercial organisations differ in their approach to combatting cybercrime?
Gabriel says, "If you know the answers to these questions, then go and buy a beer and I’ll join you later. But if you’re mildly curious, I’ll do my best to enlighten you".
Keynote Speaker
- Gabriel Haythornthwaite - Director/Founder at JB Cyber
Moderator
- Chris Kirk - General Manager of Stone & Chalk Adelaide
BIO
About Gabriel
Gabriel Haythornthwaite does not claim to be an expert in cyber
security, though he probably knows enough to be dangerous. He co-founded Redcore who, amongst many other things helped implement the Reserve Bank’s system for all interbank clearing in Australia; and have designed and built multiple security systems used across the financial services and government sectors. Following Redcore’s sale to Accenture, Gabriel founded a new company JB Cyber. They are working to help companies comply with the security and privacy obligations while deploying systems and technology that work.
