Join us for a free community seminar on the ecology and geology of the Victorian Volcanic Plains. Hear experts talk about the unique wetlands of the region and the waterbirds and other animals that inhabit them. Speakers include:
Dr Birgita Hansen - sharing insights into the latest research on the migratory Latham's Snipe.
Dr James Driscoll - will talk about the unique geology of the Victorian Volcanic plains
Dr Greg Kerr - Explains what makes a wetland healthy and their importance in a drying climate.
Dr Inka Veltheim TBC - with insights into SW Victorian Brolga populations.
The Penshurst Historical Society will present some of the local stories collected as part of their oral history project- Stones, Springs and Wild Things. They also will supply copies of fascinating early-colonial maps of the Penshurst district to inspect. There will be a panel session with our experts including Q & A from the audience.
This seminar is a collaboration between The Friends of Yatmerone and the Penshurst Volcanoes Discovery Centre and is funded by the Victorian Government and Glenelg Hopkins CMA through Victorian Landcare Grants.
