Event description

After two incredible sell-out events, Stories that Stir™ is  back for its third Brisbane event.

Eric Em and Jasmine Watson have joined forces with the fabulous Willow Pryor and this trio now make up the STS Brisbane Location Host team, bringing you an event that will leave you feeling connected, stirred, and filled with wonder of the human spirit.

Join them on 13th November where you'll hear from six inspiring people, who will be sharing their 10-minute raw and personal story, linked to the theme FREEDOM, in all its shapes and forms.

The Stories that Stir™ event series was designed to break down barriers, stir conversation, and inspire positive change.

Audience members rave about how good it feels to spend a lovely evening, listening to other people's funny, moving, and inspiring stories and how connected to humanity the event makes them feel.

This will be an evening of extraordinary stories that will make you laugh, cry, and view the world in a different light.

Meet your storytellers:

INNER FREEDOM -  Dr Nikki A Creber

Nikki’s four lived stories illustrate how nuanced freedom is. From Saving a life at 17 to being in charge of West End flood relief in the 74 Brisbane floods to then integrating 200 newly arrived kids from an African refugee camp into her ‘white” school- FREEDOM has taught her many things. Nikki is a story-teller, Advocate, Coach, Author, and Queensland Community Hero

THE HUMAN DICE  - Murray Jones

“He will never really be able to do much at all
.. never have a job
… never drive a car
… never get married
…  never have children “

4 out of every 100 boys are now diagnosed with autism. Murray’s boy has autism and it is a life sentence in so many ways – often made harder with the stares and judgement from others. Freedom began once they were no longer in denial....

SERENDIPITY - Richard Zoomers

"Richard considers himself lucky and serendipity has always been part of his life. None of Richard’s story could have happened without being free.
Follow Richard’s story as immigrant aged four, from a good catholic family with a carefree rambling childhood in a conservative regional town, transitioning to art college where he meets the woman of his dreams, then a world traveller, greenie ratbag, and an educator in the jungles.

WALKING FREE - Jessie Esguerra

A devastating accident nearly shattered Jessie’s world. Struck by a truck while cycling, he sustained severe injuries that eventually left him partially paralysed. This year he embarked on a solo adventure in Central America to walk across Costa Rica. It was a challenge to redefine his limits. Just Jessie and his backpack setting out to traverse the country from the Caribbean to the Pacific.  It was a journey of self-discovery and a celebration of human spirit, resilience, freedom, and human connection.

THE PATH OF FREEDOM - Becc Shahasrara

When Becc escaped from the abusive cult environment of her childhood, it wasn’t a final , grand moment of freedom and liberation. This was only the beginning of her incredible journey to reclaim her innate power, and right to embody what it means to be truly, wholly, unshakeably free.

MIRACLES - Carolyn Vincent

Carolyn’s life has been a series of Miracles ever since she chose to get authentically connected with people. The key word being Authentic. She didn’t even know the true meaning of that word but once she did, her life has literally taken on meaning and purpose. And following that came financial stability. She feels tremendously blessed and wants to share her story wide and far.

*Event is 18+
