Description

Bypass the cringe and bring the smoulder to your sex-scene writing.

Join award-winning contemporary fiction writer Anne Freeman in a spirited exploration of what makes a successful spicy scene and how to craft one. During this one hour, interactive workshop, participants will gain an increased understanding of their ideal reader and how to cater to their desires using the fundamentals of good writing.

    

Learning outcomes

Participants will learn to:

  • Establish and understand your ideal reader
  • Explore what a spicy scene can add to your narrative
  • Ethical considerations of sex-scene writing
  • Embracing the power of Show Don't Tell
  • Discover the antidote to cringey cliche

       

    Format

    This is an in-person workshop with a focus on writing craft; it will be held in-person at State Library of Queensland. This workshop is suitable for writers of all levels and writing backgrounds.

       

    About Anne

    Anne Freeman writes contemporary fiction about women who are stuck in life and the extraordinary ways they shake themselves loose. Her stories are always engaging and sometimes funny with reluctant adventures, sexy escapades and friendships that uplift. Anne’s novels and short stories have been recognised in many literary competitions including the prestigious Romance Writers of Australia Valerie Parv Award, the Hawkeye Publishing Manuscript Development Prize and the Grindstone Literary International Novel Prize.
