Story Caretaker Workshop: Placing Community At The Centre
Event description
Stories can create positive change. When they are led by the community, stories become even more powerful. So, how can we better create and the tell these stories safely and ethically?
This introductory session will support individuals and organisations who create, tell and share Stories to:
- rethink how to tell stories more powerfully by placing the Story Holder community at the centre
- reflect on their own current storytelling policies, processes and practices (the 3Ps)
- identify strategies to implement safe, ethical storytelling aligning the 3Ps
Two facilitators from Our Race Community will take participants through the
five principles of Transformational Ethical Story Telling (T.E.S.T.)
framework. This introductory workshop will allow
participants to understand how each principle can be applied and to
determine which principles and actions need to be prioritised for each
organisation’s Story Telling and community engagement processes. Key
questions will be posed to allow participants to navigate the challenges
faced when engaging with Story Holders.
