Story Makers: Books & Art for Kids
Event description
Join us on Monday mornings for Story Makers! Together we will read stories, sing songs, and have lots of fun making messy and playful art.
Story Makers is best for under 5’s, but everyone is welcome. Parents and guardians stay with children please – we recommend grabbing a coffee from next door before you pop through.
SCHEDULE
Please note this schedule is subject to change.
Monday 28 April: Nature printing
Get messy with paint and printing! We'll experiment making different kinds of marks with leaves, sticks and seeds.
Monday 5 May: Collage
Cut, rip and glue! We'll look for interesting textures and colours to create our own collage artwork.
Monday 12 May: Watercolour
Wash, drip, dab and swirl! We'll experiment with watercolour, looking for interesting colours and textures and patterns.
Monday 19 May: Salt Dough
Pinch, squeeze, smooth and shape! We'll mix up our salt dough together and then experiment making shapes and using different tools.
Monday 26 May: Marbling
Drip, drop and swirl! We'll be experimenting with oil marbling to create swirling, spotted patterns.
Monday 2 June: Crowns
Let's create crowns! We'll collage and decorate and colour to create our own special crown to wear.
Monday 9 June: Box Play
Castles, shops and rockets! What can we make out of boxes? We could make a window in a tall tower, a cave for a dragon, or a toadstool for a frog. We'll decorate boxes, stacking and arranging to make imagined worlds.
Monday 16 June: Big Painting
Swirl, splatter, brush and dab! Let's make a huge painting all together. We'll use brushes and sponges and hands and rollers to experiment making lots of colourful marks.
Monday 23 June: Bubblewrap Painting
Paint, dance, stomp and pop! We'll paint bubblewrap and see if we can print our painting onto paper using our hands and feet. Can we dance on the bubblewrap? What happens if it pops?
Monday 30 June: Leaf Painting
Let's decorate nature! What kind of leaves will we dream up? Spotted leaves? Creature leaves? Leaves with stripes or leaves with waves?
