Don’t just dream about being an author – make it happen!
In this inspiring and interactive workshop, young writers will learn how to transform their stories into published works and start earning from their creativity. Led by independent author and publisher Kristy Nita Brown, this hands-on session offers an exciting introduction to the world of self-publishing and writing competitions.
Using custom-designed games and real-life case studies, participants will explore the key stages of publishing their own work—from editing and designing, to pricing, printing, marketing, and distribution. They’ll also uncover how to submit stories to competitions and unlock opportunities to get their words out into the world.
By the end of the workshop, each young author will have a clearer roadmap to share their stories with confidence – and even get paid for them!

About the Facilitator:
Kristy Nita Brown is an independent author and creative entrepreneur. Her debut book, Looking for Lily, was shortlisted for the 2023 WA Young Readers’ Book Award. Her second, Mavey and Beth’s Double Act, was featured at Scribblers Festival. With over a decade of teaching experience, Kristy leads workshops and runs Book Builders Challenge, empowering students to create their own books. You can find her on:
