Storytelling and Book Discussion: Frankenstein and the Birth of Modern Horror
Event description
Join us for a deliciously seasonal, thought-provoking, and entertaining evening of storytelling and book discussion focused on Frankenstein (the 1818 text) and the birth of the horror genre.
Steve Daut, a master storyteller, has performed in various venues for over 35 years. His performances draw on his experience as a magician, sketch and stand-up comedian, improv artist, and MC.
The 1818 Frankenstein text preserves the hard-hitting and politically-charged aspects of Shelley's original writing, with its strong female voice and unflinching wit. This version places Shelley's work in the context of a feminist legacy rather than the sole female in the company of male poets.
