Event description

Got a story to tell? Whether you're a seasoned storyteller or just dipping your toes in, this 2-hour interactive workshop will help you turn your personal experiences into powerful, resonant stories.

Together, we’ll explore what makes a story connect — structure, heart, rhythm, and voice. You’ll receive practical tools, creative prompts, and plenty of encouragement to shape your memories into something meaningful.

As a special part of the evening, Julian will share a potent storytelling method passed down from one of his mentors — the Incident, Point, Benefit framework. It’s simple, powerful, and unforgettable:

  • Incident: What happened. A real moment in time.
  • Point: Why it mattered. What shifted.
  • Benefit: What your audience gains by hearing it.

This method helps transform even everyday experiences into stories that move people — whether you’re speaking on stage, in meetings, or around a dinner table.

Your guide for the evening is Julian Noel — a magnetic storyteller, regular Slam favourite, and founder of Shine. A graduate of the VCA School of Drama, Julian brings decades of experience on stage and off — weaving the craft of story into acting, performance, public speaking, and purpose-led business.

Come curious. Leave inspired.

And bring a notebook — you’ll want to remember this one.

We're stoked to be collaborating with Supreme Coffee on their Kōrero Mai campaign. Kōrero Mai means “talk to me” in te reo Māori and speaks to the power of connection. A coffee catch-up, a simple chat, or a good story, can mean more than you think to brighten someone's day. Proceeds from their Kōrero Mai blend are donated to the Mental Health Foundation.
