Event description

Strange Signals and Alien combine forces again to bring you Dutch techno luminary Sandrien on her Australian debut!

We first came across Sandrien in 2019 when she played a set on the Sunday afternoon of Japan's Labyrinth festival. The first evening and much of the first day was cancelled due to the worst typhoon in recent times, and the pressure was on the artists to do something magic in what was a reconfigured timetable for the remainder of the festival.

When Sandrien stepped up to the decks, the skies cleared, the sun came out and the people were brought together for an intense, magical session of extended bliss - a reminder of why we were all here, and what this music was all about. We hope that this magic will be recreated in one of our favourite spaces in September.

SANDRIEN (NL)

Hailing from Amsterdam, Sandrien's take on techno ranges from the deep and psychedelic to broken polyrhythms laced with acid. Having commanded dacenfloors for over 20 years, Sandrien has played the vast majority of iconic clubs and festivals. Labyrinth, Lowlands, Awakenings, Dekmantel and Draaimolen, Monument, Rainbow Disco Club and the clubs Berghain, Bassiani Basement NYC, Tunnel, and Womb - the list goes on.

In Amsterdam, she used to be a resident of De School and its predecessor Trouw. The latter was home to Sandrien’s own techno club nights ‘Imprint’, through which she hosted a variety of national and international artists including Ben Sims, DVS1, Marcel Dettman, Oscar Mulero, Peter van Hoesen and Rødhåd. In addition, she was one of the founders of the city’s long-running LGBTQIA+ event series IsBurning - a critical night of techno and house since 2014.

We are very excited to have her play for us on her very first Australian tour.

NEOTEX (AU)

Neotex is a collaborative project of two DJ's from Sydney/Eora. Their records on their independent record label Natural-High have received support from the likes of Vincent Neumann at Berghain and Donato Dozzy at Labyrinth. They display musical dedication to the fundamental aspects of dance music and have a deep passion for collecting interesting records. Their DJ sets weave in between hints of psychedelic serenity mixed with purist techno sounds including bleep, ambient, and more straight-up club focussed material.

Since 2022 they have self-released 3 eps and their first album "Neotex - The Mind Is A Series Of Patterns (NH004)" is due for release on the 22nd of August.

This DJ set will be full of their own records alongside similarly minded artists, and a perfect addition to the lineup. Their first at a Strange Signals or Alien event, expect a pumped up set of dancefloor deepness juiced with the energy from their recent record release.

AU4R33Y (AU)

AU4R33Y, or Audrey as her friends and family call her, was our first choice to join the lineup with Sandrien. Her immaculate track selection, effortlessly fusing techno, electro, acid and house, is delivered to the floor with such confidence and poise that you'd think that she's been doing this thing for decades, and she probably will be given the reception her sets receive both locally and abroad, most recently heard across China and Korea.

With an unmatched work ethic, popping up all over Sydney/Eora at the city's best parties, warehouses and outdoor events - including her exquisite and exploratory Prowl series of parties, AU4R33Y brings a wealth of dancefloor knowledge, deep, unheard gems together in an ageless mix of futuristic funk
