strangers make the world together
Event description
Eighteen young Stompers from Launceston, lutruwita. Ten brave bodies from GUTS Dance in Mparntwe/Alice Springs. At first, strangers - meeting by letters, stories, and polaroid pictures. Now, after 5 months of sharing from afar, they come together as friends, to dance.
strangers makers the world together is a powerful, youth-led performance exploring what it means to live in regional places, to feel alone yet reach for connection anyway. It builds bridges between people and places- bridges from isolation to kindredness and community.
Be guided on a roving journey where webs of connection are woven in real time. Dancers fall and are caught. They listen. They lift. They let their voices be heard. They take care of one another. They move, they groove and they invite you into the world they've made. Together.
Our low-sensory performance is on Sunday. This show involves some walking between locations, and some seating will be available at each location.
This project is supported by Arts Tasmania and the Regional Arts Fund.
