Strategies to understand and tackle racism and bias in the workplace
Event description
Please note the date of this webinar has changed from the 7th of September to the 16th of September.
What is the meaning of racism? How does unconscious bias manifest in our work? How can we identify it and what can we do to avoid it?
Join us for this important masterclass with Hueman Equity Consulting’s Phoebe Mwanza where she will take you through how to identify racism and bias in the workplace and share advice on what you can do to combat it.
In 2021, hiring diverse candidates to combat racial discrimination is a good start, but it isn’t enough to shift workplace culture and people’s perspectives. Organisations must acknowledge – and then tackle – racism and bias head on. Building a strong, diverse, inclusive and healthy workplace culture to drive positive change is the direction organisations are – and need to be – shifting in.
This session will look at practical ways to actively reduce racism and bias through training, as well as how to embed processes, policies and behavioural expectations in your organisation to help create a workplace culture grounded in diversity and inclusion.
What will this masterclass cover?
- The meaning of racism
- Types and impacts of racism
- Bias and where it comes from
- How racism and bias can show up in our work
- Practical strategies to combat racism and bias
What can I expect from this masterclass?
You’ll come away from this masterclass with a deeper understanding of the types and impacts of racism and bias, and be able to identify how they show up in your work or workplace. At the end of the masterclass you’ll have a number of practical strategies you can use to combat racism and bias as well as tools to help create a workplace culture grounded in genuine diversity and inclusion.
Who is this masterclass for?
Everyone should attend this masterclass! Not only is it important for senior management to understand racism and bias but for employees too – we can all do our part to ensure discrimination is stamped out and that we are fostering a culture of inclusion in our organisations.
