Strengthening Deadly Families

Strengthening Deadly Families is a free 6-week culturally safe, hands-on parenting program designed specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander pregnant parents or with bubs aged 6 months and under. Hosted at the Mackay Children & Family Centre, this program brings our community together to support you with essential baby care, practical skills, and healthy development in a welcoming, yarn-friendly environment.

What We Cover

• Daily Bub Care: Hands-on guidance for bathing, nappy changes, bottle-feeding, and early nutrition.

• Safety & Gear: Essential safety tips for choosing and using car seats, prams, and establishing safe sleep habits.

• Growth & Learning: Practical ideas for early language development, play, routines, and managing day-to-day transitions.

• Community & Culture: Connect with other new parents, share stories, and build a strong support network for your family's journey.

Course Details & Dates

• Duration: 6 Weeks

• When: Every Monday morning between 10.00am - 11.30am, from Monday 21st September to Monday 26th October

• Location: Mackay Children & Family Centre Hub
