Still doing your books in a notebook, a shoebox, or your head?

This is the day they move into Xero, and you learn to drive it.

Prue Button is a chartered accountant and businesswoman with years behind her in business, agriculture and regional development. She has sat with plenty of women running a real business on paper, memory and good intentions. This day is hands-on from the start. Bring your laptop and you will be working in Xero yourself, not watching someone else use it.

What Prue will cover

Getting into Xero. What cloud accounting actually means, how Xero is set up, and what changes when your books live online instead of in a drawer.

Your transactions, handled. Recording what comes in and what goes out, and letting the bank feed do the boring part for you.

Bank reconciliation. Matching what the bank says against what your books say, and reading your cashflow as it happens rather than months later.

Invoicing and getting paid. Sending an invoice that looks the part, tracking who has paid, and following up the ones who have not.

Reading your reports. The few reports worth looking at, what each one is telling you, and what to do when the numbers say something you would rather they did not.

The rest of the toolkit. The everyday digital tools that sit alongside Xero and take work off your plate.

Who it is for

Women running a business, helping run a family business, or wanting the skills to take on bookkeeping or admin work. You do not need to be using Xero already and you do not need to be good with numbers. Complete beginners welcome.

In person only, and bring a laptop

There is no online option for this one. You will be setting things up as you go, so you need your own laptop in the room with you.
