Community Discussion on the Baltimore Student Transportation Crisis

Please join The Baltimore Banner for a conversation about our recent investigation into the challenges thousands of Baltimore City Public School students face getting to school using public transportation.
This free, invitation-only community event will take place on Monday, May 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at The Garage at R. House, 301 W. 29th Street, Baltimore, MD 21211. Space is limited; we encourage you to RSVP as soon as possible
The conversation will include the key takeaways and methodology behind The Banner’s investigation into the transit issues facing Baltimore students, the scope of the problem and its impact on students, and possible solutions to address it.
Panelists will include:
- Brooke Bourne, senior at Western High School
- Ashley Esposito, commissioner, Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners
- Greg Newmark, associate professor and transit researcher, Morgan State University
- Roger Schulman, president and CEO, Fund for Educational Excellence
Banner Education Reporter Liz Bowie will moderate the discussion. We will also hear from Data Reporter Greg Morton, who led data analysis on the reporting project.
The speakers look forward to answering your questions following the panel discussion. Beverages and refreshments will be served.
