Event description

Sunday October 27th, Sub Rosa Sessions will feature Two captivating Singer-Songwriters, Annie Sumi and Jessie Elizebeth.  Be prepared for brilliant storytelling and heartwarming voices.

Sub Rosa, literally means "Under The Rose" and the rose historically used to symbolize secrecy, is a fitting name for these semi-private sessions. Sub Rosa Sessions uphold a truly unique, high-end listening experience since it's beginnings in 2012, when it was founded and hosted by singer-songwriter Amanda Rogers for 4 years at Subcat Studios. The revival of the monthly series now commences at a new creative space, Pink Rock Culture Co-op, in Downtown Syracuse. This listening room concert is an immersive experience for the attendees and performers to connect and share in the live concert together - hearing music the way the artist intended.

Annie Sumi is a mixed-race, ethereal-folk artist from Canada. Her music is intimate and expansive, inviting the listener into a familiar otherworld. Inspired by the mirrored relationship between physical and emotional landscapes, Sumi’s music speaks of the human experience through the language of the senses.

“Listening to Annie Sumi in concert is like taking a musical forest bath", says Carter Smith of Common Ground Concerts.  Since 2015, the Ontario-based songwriter has released two critically-acclaimed albums and toured her music across Canada, parts of the U.S. and Europe. Both Reflections and In the Unknown have been awarded with a number of nominations as ‘Emerging Artist’, ‘Female Vocalist’, and ‘Songwriter of the Year’, and received support from national and international radio.

Jessie Elizabeth
is an Alternative Americana artist based in Syracuse, NY who uses emotive storytelling, gripping melodies, and raw vocals to connect with her audience. She draws inspiration from her love of the earth and from themes such as self-discovery, free-spiritedness, relationship dynamics, and navigating societal pressures. Jessie instinctively weaves elements of folk, rock, country, and pop around her lyrics, resulting in an overall indie writing style and unique sound within the world of Americana music. She is currently working on her debut album, 'To Go and Grow', which is slated for release in summer 2025.
