Virtual Forum on Substance Abuse and Mental Health

Roughly 50% of individuals with severe mental disorders are affected by substance abuse. 37% of alcohol abusers and 53% of drug abusers also have atleast one serious mental illness. Of all people diagnosed as mentally ill, 29% abuse either alcohol or drugs. While substance abuse problems and mental health issues don't get better when they're ignored - in fact, they are likely to get much worse. The dual Diagnosis of mental health and substance abuse can be quite overwhelming for those affected and their carers. This virtual forum aims to bring to focus the importance of  further research into this area and to discuss on innovative integrated treatment options available.
