Suburban Bukowskis + The S-ft F-cus
Description
Suburban Bukowskis - Upbeat, folky, funny, neo-beatnik tales of failure, fun, and excess in the wild inner-west. are a trademark of the narrative poem-songs (or pongs) sung and strummed by award-winning playwright and poet: Benito Di Fonzo.
Suburban Bukowskis feature Benito alongside vocalist Justine Wahlin, lead guitarist Pete Fenwick, bassist Mikey Patterson, and sitting on the kit, Karl Johnson. Aided by the visual live action performance art of Ant Connolly.
In 2023, i94 hailed the Suburban Bukowskis as ‘stand out’ artists of the year: “they always deliver an earthy, witty set”. The Sydney Morning Herald concurs: “Benito Di Fonzo waxes lyrical about money, Marx and the meaning of life.”
Their latest album Life is a Gateway Drug was recently launched to a full house at the Townie Hotel, Newtown. Stuart Coupe reviews: “There’s lots to like on this” while King Willy Sounds states: “Very entertaining...reminds me of a charming ramshackle tram of characters winding its way down King Street.”
