Successful Succession
Event description
Business succession planning is becoming a key topic for many families, although less than 45% have formally considered it. This session will outline common errors and opportunities when planning, communicating and implementing a sale or transition of the family business.
Topics covered in the 90-minute presentation include:
Succession: Cracking the code on Fairness: One of the major barriers to succession planning is how it can be done fairly for all members of the family group. This session explores the needs of the older and younger generations and the key steps required to maximise fairness and family harmony.
Tax-Efficient Succession Planning: Tax can be a major obstacle to implementing a succession plan. This session provides practical insights into two key strategies, the small business CGT concessions and the small business restructure rollover, that can help you manage the tax impacts and achieve a successful transition.
Tools for succession: Trusts, companies, Private Ancillary Funds and superannuation can all be a tool in a succession strategy. The session will outline how structures such as superannuation can provide tax free earnings on retirement assets, enhanced asset protection and treatment when passing it to the next generation.
Investment Strategies for Retirement: Once the funds are received, the next consideration is crafting a robust investment strategy to enhance returns and control the risk. The session covers elements of a successful investment strategy which is responsive to the economic outlook and risks.
Food and refreshments provided.
