The CorriLee Foundation and No Laughing Matter proudly present the internationally acclaimed documentary Such A Resounding Silence. Following this groundbreaking insight into intrafamilial childhood sexual abuse, our allies will speak on this heartbreaking topic, which is too often shrouded in silence.

Such A Resounding Silence is a beautifully produced and deeply moving exploration of intrafamilial child sexual abuse told through poetic storytelling, animation, and music. Each survivor's story is portrayed with honesty and sensitivity, weaving together stories of pain, courage, and resilience, while also offering hope and healing.

Following the screening there will be a panel joined by people with professional and personal experience of intrafamilial child sexual abuse. They will share their perspectives and help us explore a subject that is too often difficult to discuss. The event includes an interval with complimentary refreshments and an opportunity for conversation and reflection.

This is not just a film screening. This is a call to action. This issue is uncomfortable, but we must talk about it and begin addressing incest at the root: with prevention, education, and systemic change. Incest thrives in silence, and ends with awareness.

We invite parents, teachers, survivors, government leaders, social justice advocates, and the wider community who care about making a positive change to attend and be part of the change.

KAY MCGRATH OAM is an award-winning journalist, news presenter and passionate social justice advocate who presented prime time news bulletins in Queensland for more than 40 years. Working with the Seven Network Australia for more than 30 years, her brand is trusted, genuine and strong.  In 2020, Kay stepped away from the news desk and now works on filing special interest news stories. For four and a half years, Kay Chaired the Queensland State Government’s Domestic and Family Violence Implementation and Prevention Councils established following the landmark ‘Not Now Not Ever’ Taskforce headed by Dame Quentin Bryce.  She is currently a member of the Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Council.

TRACY ADAMS is the CEO of yourtown which provides a range of services, including the nationally recognised Kids Helpline. Having been in the organisation for 35 years she has seen a lot of change, but also a lot which hasn’t changed - she is a big believer in getting comfortable with being uncomfortable if we want things to be different.

SANDRA SULLY AM is a senior journalist and presenter for 10 News First Sydney and has been an integral part of the 10 News team since 1990, celebrating her 35th anniversary at the Network in early 2025. In 2024 Sandra was recognised for her efforts in media, community and charity as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the General Division, in the Australia Day Honours list. As one of the most recognisable and respected faces on Australian television, Sandra has also hosted major Network news events including the Federal Election coverage, the Federal Budget, the Royal Wedding and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's State Funeral from London, and Oprah Winfrey’s Big ‘O’ event at the Botanical Gardens.

DR JENI HAYNES is a survivor of extreme sadistic childhood sexual abuse. As a result of the abuse she developed Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD - now know as Dissociative Identity Disorder - DID). In 2019 Dr Jeni Haynes made worldwide legal history when NSW Prosecutors successfully used her alter personalities to give evidence against her abuser Richard John Haynes, her father. After a few hours of testimony by her alters he changed his plea to guilty and was convicted. He was given a 45 year prison term. This was the first time MPD/DID was used as evidence of the crimes which caused the condition. As a result of Jeni's case more survivors with MPD/DID have now secured convictions against their abusers. Since the trial Dr Jeni has worked tirelessly to increase awareness and understanding of MPD/DID as a coping strategy to deal with extreme child abuse. She has written and narrated a book - The Girl in the Green Dress - with her psychiatrist Dr George Blair-West. Her award-winning documentary "We Are Jeni" was released this year to critical acclaim. Now Jeni spends her time advocating for survivors of childhood abuse, doing workshops, panels, podcasts and social media.

DR GEORGE BLAIR-WEST is a psychiatrist who has sub-specialised in just couple therapy and complex developmental trauma for the last 30 years. Over this time he has treated many patients with high-level dissociation and DID. He is the co-author of The Girl in the Green Dress (and four other books), has two TED talks, and appears in the documentary, We Are Jeni, whom he treated for over 20 years. 

DR MAGGIE BELL is a Queensland-born composer and speaker whose work bridges music, creativity, and mental health. Drawing on her lived experience of Dissociative Identity Disorder, her most recognised compositions offer rare insight into life with a fragmented sense of self, challenging stigma and revealing music as a powerful tool for expression and healing. Her work has received national attention, including the twelve-episode podcast series 5 of No Laughing Matter, dedicated to her creative process. A sought-after speaker, Maggie also composes across orchestral, chamber, vocal, environmental, and children’s repertoire. She advocates for wellbeing and Australian women composers.

DR JAN EWING is a clinical neuropsychologist and clinical psychologist with over 40 years’ experience. Jan specialises in traumatic brain injury and complex trauma, particularly military-related trauma and survivors of childhood abuse, and has conducted training workshops in trauma and dissociation across Australia and internationally. She is currently semi-retired, working with a small number of long-term clients with complex trauma and dissociative disorders Jan has been a long term supporter of No Laughing Matter podcast series and had contributed two episodes explaining the psychological impact of intrafamilial abuse.
