Summer Earth Kids 2024 (3-day holiday program)
Event description
For children aged 6 to 12, the Earth Kids program aims to empower participants to become 'nature smart,' equipping them with the knowledge, understanding, and skills to actively build a better world for all living beings.
Through observation, guided questioning, and hands-on activities, children learn about the Farm's animals and plants, explore Indigenous culture, experiment with eco arts, develop bushcraft skills, and apply Permaculture principles.
The activities differ according to the season and may include:
- Gardening – planting, harvesting, composting, and learning about bush foods and seasonal changes.
- Bushcraft - building shelters, navigation and knife skills, making string and fire.
- Ecoarts – creativity using natural, recycled, or repurposed materials.
- Indigenous understanding – storytelling, and cultural sharing.
- Earth connection – 'magic spots’, mapping, wandering, and other activities to support awareness, and understanding of ecosystems and their relationship.
From Tuesday to Thursday, from 9 am to 3 pm daily (drop off from 8.30 am and pick up until 3.15 pm).
