Summer Pruning and Caring for Fruit Trees - 2023
Event description
Whether you have a small garden with just a few fruit trees, or you want a large orchard, now is the time to summer prune and shape deciduous fruit trees. This workshop will look at the soil preparation, planting and training of young deciduous fruit trees.
Summer is also the time to prune young deciduous fruit trees for shaping and we will also show you how to maintain mature fruit trees, cleaning up and pruning, to shape trees, minimise disease and maximise fruit production. Orchard and soil health, fertilising and watering will be covered.
The workshop will be held inside the shed and out in the orchard at Sophie's Patch.
To share their breadth of knowledge we have passionate fruit tree grower and member of the Rare Fruit Society Chris Day from Every Day Sustainable Living, and sixth generation orchardist Wez Redden, who has been helping me with fruit tree pruning for more than 20 years in my orchard here at Sophie’s Patch and at other properties.
Morning Tea: A delicious morning tea of home baked fruit themed slices and cakes made with Sophie's orchard produce will be provided.

Weather Policy: Please check your emails the evening before the event. If the weather is forecast to be over 35c at Mount Barker we will cancel the event and reschedule for a later date. We may also cancel the event should there be fire risk, flooding or other inclement and unsafe weather forecast.
Refunds Policy: Refunds are available up to 7 days before the event. After that time we will try and accommodate you in an alternative workshop, or will provide you with a credit for future events subject to availability.
