Summer Solstice kirtan in Castlemaine
Event description
Join us for our Summer Solstice Kirtan, a call-and-response singing practice featuring Sanskrit words and folk melodies.
Kijam, a collective of local Castlemaine Kirtan singers and musicians, host public Kirtan events at every solstice and equinox.
Arrive at 6:00 PM for complementary chai and mingling before chanting starts. There will also be a simple dhal and rice dinner and sweets for purchase.Â
At 7pm the kirtan program commences, Don't forget your water bottle and cushion, though chairs will be provided.
All, including children, are welcome to join us.

Participants follow a lead singer and musicians, singing simple, repetitive phrases in Sanskrit. This uplifting practice helps you relax, connect with others, and experience different states, from calm meditation to joyful, ecstatic dance.
