Event description

Are you looking for a fun and sustainable way to level up your wardrobe?

Join in our Clothes Swap on Saturday 23rd November where you can exchange up to 10 gently used clothing items, shoes, or accessories that you no longer wear but are still in good condition.

We'll also have an onsite Repair Café happening on the day, so bring along any clothing items in need of some love!

Light refreshments will be provided by Momo Wholefoods Cafe!

Overview of the day:

2.30pm - 4.30pm : Repair Café with Upcycle Newcastle and Made By Me, Jessie B

  • Bring an item along to the Repair Café and have it repaired for free by one of the incredible volunteers from Upcycle Newcastle, or by the lovely Jessie B!
  • The first 10 people to bring their items in for repair will receive a FREE mending kit from Made By Me, Jessie B!

3pm - 3.30pm : Clothes Swap Check-in

  • Meet our volunteers at the check-in counter to exchange up to 10 items for the equivalent number of tokens (these will be used later to go “shopping”!)
  • While everyone checks-in and the items are being sorted and hung, you can enjoy some light refreshments, shop through our Rescue Rack of clothes for free, or bring an item for repair to the Repair Café.

4:00 pm : Swapping

  • At 4pm you will be allowed to enter the venue where we will first will give an overview of how the swapping event works, and hear from some local sustainability, fashion, and textiles experts
  • Then the swapping will begin!
  • All items will be sorted in types and hung on display racks
  • Change rooms and mirrors will be available on the day
  • When you have made your selection, meet our volunteers at the check-out counter to exchange your tokens for your new items of clothing!

Spaces are limited so booking is essential. Ticket price is $10, or select the option based on a sliding scale donation. Pay what you want! We just want to see you there!

Please reach out to the team at hello@purplecardproject.org if you would like to be a youth ambassador or volunteer on the day! You will still be able to participate in the swapping activities and we would like to give you a free ticket for your help!

This event is proudly supported by City of Newcastle, Newcastle Museum, Purple Card Project, Upcycle NewcastleMade By Me, Jessie B, and The Full Circle Collective.
