Workshop One – Weave a Natural Wallhanging

10am - 4pm Monday 12 January

In this relaxed one day workshop, you’ll gather inspiration from the natural world and use Mother Nature's gifts of leaves, twigs, bark, pods, feathers and fibres, combined with found and reclaimed materials to create a beautiful, one-of-a-kind wall hanging.

During the workshop, Lou will guide you through different weaving techniques as you explore ideas and work in harmony with nature – letting organic shapes, textures and colours guide the construction of your piece. This hands-on process is not only creative, but also a wonderfully mindful practice – as you slow down and observe up close, the beauty of nature's materials.

No experience is necessary, only a willingness to play, explore, let go and enjoy the process. You’ll leave with a unique artwork to take home, woven with nature’s treasures and a renewed connection to both the environment and your own creativity.

All materials are supplied, including enough to take home and continue your work. Feel free to bring along anything from your own garden to include in your work.

Workshop Two – Create a Slow Stitched Vessel with Reclaimed Textile Waste

10am - 4pm Wednesday 14 January

In this relaxed one day workshop, you’ll learn the techniques and develop the skills required to create a unique slow stitched vessel using reclaimed textile waste. This slow, intentional and mindful workshop will encourage you to be present in the moment, focus simply on the process of making, and inspire you to expand your creativity while exploring materials in new ways.

This workshop is designed for anyone looking to delve into the freedom and relaxation of slow stitching, from absolute beginners to more experienced makers. Lou will guide you through the techniques of creating core pieces from textile waste, how to slowly stitch these pieces together, working to ‘build’ your vessel, while exploring different fabrics, yarns and threads.

All materials, embellishments and threads are supplied, including enough to take home and continue your work. Feel free to bring along anything from your own collection to include in your creation.

Workshop Three – Unique Jewellery Making with Reclaimed Material

10am - 4pm Friday 16 January

In this fun one day workshop, you’ll learn to explore ‘waste’ resources in new ways, culminating in your own piece (or two, or three) of jewellery. Work with reclaimed bicycle parts, o-rings, plastics, string, textile waste and embellishments to create a pendant, brooch, hair pin or bangle.

Choose from a huge variety of reclaimed materials to explore the creativity and fun of jewellery making. Throughout the workshop, Lou will share techniques and examples of how you can create your own unique pieces and support you through the planning, design and creation of each work, with as much or as little hands on support as you prefer.

All materials, embellishments and threads supplied, including enough to take home and continue your work. Feel free to bring along anything from your own collection to include in your creation.

About Lou Nade

Lou Nade is an award winning product designer, fibre artist and sculptor. Passionate about the health of the planet, circularity and reduction of waste, Lou works with reclaimed landfill, found, natural and compostable materials. She regularly exhibits and teaches across Sydney, the Southern Highlands and on the Sapphire Coast where she currently resides.
