ABOUT THE PROJECT: Summerset Waikanae Development is now well underway, with the first residents moving into villas in 2023. When complete, the retirement village will be home to over 400+ residents in a mix of villas, apartments, cottages and serviced apartments. There will also be a care centre providing a range of care options, including an industry-leading memory care centre specifically designed to support those living with dementia. Check out the views of Kapiti Island the residents will enjoy once the “Main Building” is complete and see how structure and fit out are progressing for the facility which will include a resident bar, exercise room, indoor swimming pool, library, lounge, workshop, hair salon, bowling green and communal gardens. This specific site has provided unique challenges in terms of typography, landscaping and resource consent requirements, resulting in several different building typologies utilised, and careful staging & planning.

Learn about Summerset’s business model as a Developer, Designer, Builder and Operator within the retirement industry and the teamwork and challenges involved in this large-scale project. The team will also cover how they have partnered with local BEW & civil contractor Goodman’s to shift over 350,000 cubic metres of material, re-shaping the 26-hectare site to take advantage of those sea & Kapiti Island views.
