Sunday Folk is an afternoon of original music by a selection of singer songwriters sneaking in a special event at It's Still A Secret before they close their final curtain.

Clare Cowley & The Flames divine latest tunes by the troubadour, in anticipation of 3rd album 'Handwritten Letter' arriving in early 2026.

Supporting is folk rock artist, June Low celebrating 10 years with album 'Exhale' and incredible indie folk artist, Neish, fresh off the back of her Japan tour.

Clare Cowley & The Flames

Clare Cowley is a captivating Brisbane-based troubadour originally from the dairy farming community of Allora, Queensland. With delicately rich vocals, she summons the spirit of folk music through her country blues sound infused with folky harmonies and jazz and soul influences. A highly commended finalist for the 2024 Grant McLennan Fellowship by the Queensland Music Awards, Clare works with a revolving cast of talented musicians known as 'The Flames,' including Skye McNicol on violin, Julia Bates on harmonies, and Kathryn McKee on cello. Having successfully toured her second album 'Desire Notes' throughout Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania in 2023, she's now crafting new material for her highly anticipated third album 'Handwritten Letter,' due in early 2026.

June Low

June Low are a dynamic 4-piece band from Brisbane, comprised of Emma White on vocals and guitar, Brian Mann on lead guitar and backing vocals, Jane Elliott on bass, and Sean Clift on percussion. Their music is an eclectic and compelling mix of dark roots, indie-pop and rock which combines rawness with translucent beauty. Known for their storytelling through alternative country and dark roots soundscapes, complemented by atmospheric cello and melodica arrangements, June Low have built a dedicated following on the Brisbane music scene. As they celebrate their 10-year anniversary, the band continues to create passionate music that resonates deeply with audiences through their distinctive blend of folk sensibilities and rock edge.

Neish

Neish (Taneisha Swanson) is an emerging indie folk singer, songwriter and musician from Brisbane/Meanjin whose melancholic sound creates beautiful, intimate performances that immerse audiences in healing experiences. After feeling as though she didn't have a voice, Neish found solace in music and rediscovered her sound through heartfelt songwriting. Influenced by folk-infused alternative artists such as Daughter and Novo Amor, she aims to captivate through strong lyricism and exceptional musicianship. Her performances feature both melancholic renditions of popular music and deeply emotional original compositions, establishing her as an artist to watch on the Australian indie folk scene. Fresh from her Japan tour, Neish brings international experience and a refined artistic vision to her craft.
