Mugwort Kneaded Ancestral Incense Workshop Sunday 1st December
Event description
Mugwort Kneaded Ancestral Incense WorkshopÂ
Sunday 1st December
I have just done a huge harvest of Mugwort because she was getting to hip height and I wanted to dry her ready for use.
I love putting Mugwort in incense. You can put a leaf of Mugwort under your pillow at night for lucid dreaming. She brings insight, she's cleansing, she brings strength, she's also medicinal.
I am offering a two part Mugwort series of workshops: do one or both
Part 1 Mugwort Kneaded Ancestral Incense (Saturday 30th Nov or Sunday 1st Dec)
Part 2 Mugwort Grow, Harvest, Dry, Store and Explore (Saturday 7th Dec or Sunday 8th Dec)
Mugwort workshop Part 1Â
Sunday 1st December
Mugwort Kneaded Ancestral Incense
We are going to use my homegrown and dried Mugwort in an Kneaded Ancestral Incense. This is the name that came to me after a workshop on making Kyphi (an ancient Egyptian temple incense).
My naming is for a similar method that uses dry and wet ingredients but uses the ingredients available to my ancestors in Scotland, and England, Norse countries and "Old Europe" (from Marija Gimbutas).
I made a 4th batch of Kyphi style incense but I added too much wet material to the herbs and resins and it is still sticky. After harvesting Mugwort recently I was "inspired" to knead in some dried Mugwort.Â
The outcome is an incense that is no longer sticky and drying as it should. I'm really excited to share this process.Â
I made a mistake with one sort of incense but it turned it into something I really wanted to share but didn't know how.Â
Thanks Mugwort and all the botanicals for the "inspiration".
We will spend 2 hours at making this version of Ancestral kneaded incense
- Ancestral kneaded incense and how I came to this process through learning about Kyphi
- Prepare my homegrown Mugwort with the mortar and pestle
- How to knead Mugwort into our sticky incense
- Drying, curing and heating Ancestral Kneaded Incense
This workshop is at Nevedya in Upwey. There are places for six people in this workshop.Â
Spots are very limited as I have a very small amount of my sticky incense. I'd really love for you to join me as these will be last workshops until March next year. I am in the start of the process of moving back to South Australia to be with my family as they age. If you'd like to come and learn with me please book your spot asap.
This is the Sunday workshop. Saturday Mugwort Ancestral Kneaded Incense workshop is here:
